Holi is the most popular Vedic Festival and is being celebrated this year on 17th March 2014. It is New Year's day and has been being celebrated since Vedic Era. Very auspicious day for all kinds of Yagyas such as:
- For good health and prevention of health problems
- For Saving form dangers, evils and ghosts
- For getting married specially in difficult situations
- For saving love or marriage
- For good communication, for understandings & harmony in marital life

Holi is the first day of the year as Hindu Year begins from Month Chaitra and this day is the first day of the month. According to Vedic Astrology and Dharmashatra this year system needs to be used for all religious, ceremonial and spiritual purposes. this is also called Lunar System. Even today we use English date system in our regular life, for all spiritual purposes, festivals and ceremoneis we still use this Vedic Date system. Holi is also called the festivals of color as today we play with colors. This ritual was also popular in the times of Lord Ram and Lord Krishna. This festival corelates itself to the greatest devotee of Lord Vishnu named - Bhakta Prahlad - a price. Hiranyakashipu claimed to be himself a God. His son, Prahlad however didn't accept his false claim and faced several times killing attempts by his father king, however Lord Vishu saved him everytime. One of those attempt was to put the 8 years old prince in fire which didn't work and his aunt Holika, who was attempting this was burnt. In final attempt, lord Vishnu incarnated as Narsingha (halfman-half lion) to kill devil Hiranyakashipu.
The ilimination of Holika is therefore celebrated as the victory of the truth and is celebrated on the eve of Holi, this year on 16.3.2014. Here people burn all their dirts of house. Next day they meet and greet together on new year and color faces of each other being simbol of integrety and joy.
